"Deep ruby red in color with garnet reflections. On the nose, aromas of red fruit, blackberry, plum and licorice with hints of vanilla and leather. Full-bodied palate, with intense flavors of cherry, raspberry and spice culminating in a long and smooth finish." —winemaker
"Luigi Pira Barolo Serralunga is a garnet red color with orange reflections. The nose reveals a classic Barolo, fresh and elegant in its notes of leather, hay, earth and spices. On the palate it is round, well balanced between acidity and tannins, very persistent." —winemaker
"Serralunga Barolo is characterized by great structure and power. Dry and tannic, but with velvety texture and great balance. It has notes of vanilla, spices, withered roses and underbrush. balance. The finish is very long-lasting. Ideal with hearty red meat dishes and medium or mature cheeses." —winemaker
Wine Anthology Team Review- A terrific example of what could be done with Nebbiolo, this Barolo is one of the most highly touted wines of the year. Dried floral flavors walk hand in hand with citrus fruit and earthy elements combining to make this northern Italian classic. Often referred to as the "King of Italian Reds", Barolo, when made right, could be a truly amazing wine to behold. Do yourself a favor and decorate your holiday meal with this beauty of a bottle. Enjoy!
"An explosion of fresh perfumes, with raspberry and rose nuances. Red fruit flavors well integrated with aromatic, light and delicate aromas. Fine tannins and breathtaking elegance." —winemaker
Wine Anthology Team Review-A wonderfully mixed bag of flavors and aromas, everything from cherry, plum, baking spice, anise and earthy tones. A perfect example of northern Italian Nebbiolo as it's finest! Bring this with you to your next dinner party and show off how well you know "food friendly" reds!! Cheers!
"Broglio is Schiavenza's largest cru holding, with 1.5ha owned here. The vineyard is located at 360 meters above sea level with a south-east exposure. Due to a bit more clay in the topsoil, Broglio is also the most productive site in the Schiavenza range. To achieve balance and to let the Serralunga terroir speak clearly, this vineyard requires more labor than their other sites, with multiple passes of canopy work, bunch-thinning, and green harvest. Of the four Barolos, Broglio can often be the one that is most aromatically and structurally "ready" at a young age, perhaps even more so than the estate's Serralunga bottling." —winemaker
