"A ruby-colored wine, with purple nuances. It has an intense and complex bouquet, with hints of black and red fruit and some tree fruits, combined with a heather and resin balsamic aroma, cocoa and chocolate. In the palate, it has a good volume, rounded tannins and well-integrated acidity. Hints of red fruits and light cocoa stand out in the flavor. The finish is long and quite elegant." —winemaker
"A garnet-coloured, almost opaque wine, with aromas reminiscent of dark fruit, spices and smoke, and hints of jam due to the lengthy period of maturation. Dense, full on the palate, and well structured. Tannins are present, but are soft and well integrated. A finish that is extremely pleasant, long-lasting and persistent." —winemaker
"This blend brings together the aromatic intensity of Touriga Nacional, sophisticated delicacy of Tinta Roriz (better known in Spain as Tempranillo), and the structure and elegance of Touriga Franca. Fresh red fruits on the nose persist through the palate, announcing a young, energetic wine with swirling, well-integrated tannins and a lovely, long finish." —winemaker
"Dark purple in color. The nose shows excellent aroma intensity, with fresh aromas of wild fruits well-integrated with elegant floral notes. The palate starts in an appealing way, evolving into a wine with excellent volume and a structure made of a matrix of velvety tannins. This is an engaging, balanced wine, with a fresh, persistent finish." —winemaker
"The José de Sousa Rosado Fernandes Cellar was founded in 1878 and was purchased by José Maria da Fonseca in 1986, fulfilling an old dream of producing wine in Alentejo, in an estate full of prestige and history. The estate is located in Reguengos de Monsaraz, and it is here that a 2.000 year old Roman tradition is kept alive. The José de Sousa Cellar owns 114 ceramic amphorae in which an ancient fermentation method takes place. Dark red with some depth, the Jose de Sousa shows aromas of dates, chocolate, oak, some vanilla, fig, and spices. On the palate, the wine is fruity, velvety, with good tannins, some complexity and a good acidity." —winemaker
"Esteva is a bright ruby colour and has an aroma of good intensity. It has floral notes of rockrose, balsamic aromas of cedar and resin and red fruits like strawberry and cherry. On the palate, it has good volume, well integrated acidity giving exceptional freshness and vivacity, polished tannins and floral aromas and well present red fruits. Its finish is very elegant and harmonious." —winemaker
"It presents great aromatic intensity with fresh fruit such as plums and blackberries. Elegance and freshness characterize this wine with an elegant, harmonious and gastronomic profile. A great choice for a daily wine." —winemaker
Wine Anthology Team Review-I have always told my customers that the best "dollar for quality" ratio can usually be found in Portugal and this particular bottle exemplifies this perfectly. From the region of Alentejano, these grapes were stored and vinified at low temperatures in order to preserve all the intense aromas and flavors found here. An absolute steal for this money. A must try!!
