"This easy drinking red wine is a modern expression of the spices discovered on the 'Spice Route' by Portuguese explorers in 1498. These explores opened up the Western world to exciting new flavors such as nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves and pepper. The wine has extraordinary, rich flavors born of Portugal’s indigenous grapes and unique terrain. Intense, deep ruby color, with a bright red rim. The predominant flavors are ripe, cooked black fruits. Sweet notes of vanilla and hints of mocha. The first impression in the mouth is rich and full. Excellent balance of tannins and acidity, with a long, smooth finish." —winemaker

"This wine shows complete harmony between color, aroma, flavor and finish. Utilizing Paul Hobbs’s best 23 Oak Barrels selection of Malbec; which is characterized by an intense red with notes of violets and sweet tannins. The Malbec is combined with a touch of the winery’s best Cabernet Sauvignon in order to ensure consistency. Ripe, juicy raspberry fruit, with lovely boysenberry and plenty of vanilla, spice and chocolate, come through on both the nose and palate. Fairly round and inviting. "The winery was mentioned in the first edition of « Bordeaux Et Ses Vins » edited by Charles Cocks in 1850. This time it was owned by P. Brion. In the fifth edition of the guide in 1886 the winery appeared under its current name, Château Lassus. In 1932 Château Lassus was awarded Cru Bourgeois status for its Medocian wine. The estate was bought by the Paeffgen family in 2010 who have realized large investments since to help the cru maintain its renowned status. The quality focus is realized by sustainable efforts in the vineyards, a strong selection process upfront harvest as well as during processing of the berries and finally by the maturing of the wine in selected French oak barrels (barriques). As such the potential of the exceptional terroir and the old vines with reduced yields is converted in a Médocwine with elegant finesse, clarity in the fruit expression, complexity of aroma and taste with a smooth tannin structure. Remaining a typical Medoc-wine, Château Lassus has a significant aging potential." —winemaker
