Khvanchkara has its longstanding reputation due to its being the favorite wine of Georgia's most notorious native son, Joseph Stalin. It was also drunk during the 1945 Yalta Conference by Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Joseph Stalin. Its excellent qualities have earned it two gold and four silver medals at international exhibitions.
