Inspired to capture his experience of Tokyo’s many sensory dimensions and to experiment with rare Japanese Mizunara oak casks for the first time, Dr Bill united Glenmorangie part-aged in Mizunara oak with whisky that had spent time in both sherry and bourbon casks, for a unique limited-edition that’s perfectly balanced with Glenmorangie’s house-style. The whisky fuses notes of pepper with bitter cherries and mouth-watering orange zest with incense and sweet oak – a unique and complex flavour profile resulting from the recipe of Mizunara oak, Bourbon and Sherry casks." —producer

"The distillery is at the heart of Oban - 'Gateway to the Isles'. In effect, the town grew up around the distillery, founded by John and Hugh Stevenson in 1794. Oban's attractive West Highland character reflects its location, revealing aspects of both the Highland and the Island styles. Elegant and glowing, it marries the sea air character of the Island malts to the soft, richly fruity style of the Highlands, creating its own rich tasting West Highland malt. The stills here are among the smallest in Scotland. The cramped nature of the site places severe limits on production, which in turn means that demand for Oban's richly appreciated malt is always likely to exceed supply. Few malts were ever made in the Western Highlands and only two now remain. Oban, like its home, remains their capital." -producer

"The 15 Year Old gets its distinctive rich and exotic character from a process of selective maturation in which a proportion of the spirit is matured in French oak casks. In fact, we at The Glenlivet were one of the first to use French oak for making whisky, a technique that has since been imitated the world over. The Limousin oak we use is cut in France’s Dordogne region, where it’s often used to mature cognacs. Its low density allows whisky to sink deep into the wood, and we carefully control how long the whisky matures in the casks so as not to overpower the desired result: a unique, pleasing spiciness." —producer
